Raquel García-Álvarez

Program Officer

Raquel works across all the Foundation’s core grantmaking areas, engaging grant applicants, grantees, and Foundation staff to develop and fund initiatives that further the Foundation’s mission. She works closely with the Vital Lands Illinois grant program, which seeks to create a statewide, connected system of natural lands, ensure their permanent protection and stewardship, and build public support for conservation. Prior to joining the Foundation, Raquel worked for the U.S. Forest Service in various capacities. Raquel has a Master’s degree in Environment and Natural Resources with a focus in Economics from the University of Iceland and a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.
